Theatre
"Culture is a human right. It leads from the rule of necessity to the sphere of freedom."
Kent Nagano
What is also learned through art can become anchored in the brain as a positive experience. Music, art and theatre have a long tradition at the Obermenzinger Gymnasium.
P-Seminar „Stage presence“
– for grade 11
The stage space – theater, lectern, podium, the chair in front of the camera, etc. – is a place of influence. Here, people listen while being subjected to public evaluation.
In rehearsals we focus on vocal expression, presence through gestures and facial expressions, as well as promoting imagination, mindfulness and social interaction. The focus is on communication: convincing rhetoric, authenticity, contact with the audience, acceptance of one's own fear and overcoming inner resistance.
The stage space makes it possible to develop one's own potential and to make the world a little bit better - first in the game, and then in life.
PER.forming
– in den 8. Klassen
In order to encourage our students' creative and design potential, we no longer allow our 8th grade students to sit on chairs after the end of the grading process. For three weeks, learning takes place exclusively through movement.
Learning, but differently than in school – this is the idea behind the long-term cooperation between the Bavarian State Ballet and selected schools. In a two-and-a-half-week, all-day project, the young people develop a performance in external rehearsal rooms together with professional teachers. Themes from their own real lives are expressed in a performative-experimental form through joint movement, conquering space, rhythm and dynamics as a choreographic sequence. The most exciting part, both for the students and for parents, friends and school employees, is the performance with professional stage production and an evening-long program. We find a different special location for this every year.
Transfer effects of the project: This interdisciplinary lesson is based on the motto "learning for life". Sustainable learning processes are achieved through intensive engagement with a subject, enthusiasm and meaningfulness as well as through immediate goals within a manageable time frame. In addition, allowing differences of opinion in a heterogeneous group is fruitful for the creative development of ideas. In group work, transfer skills are acquired such as the ability to concentrate, sensitivity, reliability, body awareness, rhetoric, responsibility for the group, perseverance, discipline, dealing with frustration, questioning classic role models, team spirit and self-confidence through performance, etc. The development of a contemporary dance performance and its performance and the experience of the standing ovations will make it easier for the young people to confront or access postmodern and contemporary phenomena in the arts and humanities.
